IWelcome to 2009 Performance Excellence Showcase!

 ASQ Section 1510 is proud to sponsor this year’s Performance Excellence Showcase on March 24, 2009.   The Showcase is prelude to the Florida Sterling Quality Conference held each year at the end of May in Orlando .   

This year, in an effort to make the Showcase affordable to all who wish to participate, there is no charge to attend.  The event will be in late afternoon at a new location, Volunteer Park in Plantation.  A small registration fee to help pay for the facility, the audio equipment rental and awards will be charged for teams and storyboards.

Each year the Showcase provides an opportunity to showcase best practices in process improvement from the South Florida area.  Teams give fun presentations on projects that produced breakthrough gains for their organizations.  Others showcase their improvements on Storyboards.   

Improvement Teams 

The team competition is the major event of the Performance Excellence Showcase.   Teams submit an application and receive feedback from a distinguished panel of judges.  Each team is then given 10 minutes to tell their story to an audience of over 150 people.  The team presentations cover the scope of their project, the work they undertook to craft a solution, and the final results.  Along the way, the audience learns key concepts, ideas, and approaches from the team.  What makes this event so successful is the benchmarking and learning that attendees gain from the presentations.  

Work teams from throughout South Florida are welcome to compete for the honor of representing our region in the State competition.  The winning project represents South Florida at the statewide showcase at the Florida Sterling Quality Conference (hosted by the Florida Sterling Council, http://www.floridasterling.com. At that event, winning projects from each of the six regions throughout Florida compete for the right to be called Florida ’s top work team and represent the state at the national level. 

Work teams gain special recognition in knowing they are among the best in South Florida .  Organizations encourage participation in this event because it is an honorable designation to be considered among the region's finest.  Team members and organizations both benefit from being affiliated with performance excellence.

Storyboards 

Many of our participants prefer to showcase their improvements using storyboards.  Each storyboard gives a complete picture of a project from its selection, the use of quality tools to perform root cause analysis and develop a solution through its implementation.
